Elisabeth Allenbach of Adelboden, who was engaged to Gilgian Rosti, emigrated in 1750 to Nova Scotia, against the will of her parents. Elizabeth was the daughter of David Allenbach of Adelboden and she left behind her in this country four brothers and a sister: Abraham, David, Peter, Steffen and Susannah Allenbach. They now request the government to allow them the usufruct of the interest on Elisabeth's inheritance of 222 crowns, and their request is granted. According to oral reports Elisabeth Allenbach died during the journey at sea. It is not clear from the documents whether this Gilgian Rosti also emigrated, as may be assumed. It is possible, however, that Elisabeth Allenbach left because she did not wish to marry this man. [1767, March/April.
