First Generation

1. Anna/Susannah Rösti. Born in May 1733 in Adelboden, Kanton Bern, Switzerland. Anna/Susannah was baptized in Adelboden, Kanton Bern, Switzerland, on 31 May 1733. Anna/Susannah died in Lunenburg, Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia, on 2 Jan 1762; she was 28.

On 13 Oct 1752 Anna/Susannah first married Jean-Louis Deladeray in Halifax, Halifax Co., Nova Scotia.1 Born bef 1730 in Elsaß (Alsace) or Switzerland. Jean-Louis died in Halifax, Halifax Co., Nova Scotia, in Aug 1757; he was 27. Buried on 27 Aug 1757 in Halifax, Halifax Co., Nova Scotia.

Susanna Deladeray married second as his second at Lunenburg, N.S. 6 June 1758 (St. John's Anglican Church, Lunenburg - S.J.A.L.) Johann Georg Wurth/Worth, who was born about 1720 in the Palatinate and died in 1803. J. Georg Worth married third as her second at Lunenburg, N.S. 11 May 1762 (S.J.A.L.) Anna Maria Huy, widow of Johann Wilhelm Huy, who was born in the Palatinate and died before November 1766. He married a fourth time. Susanna Deladeray is probably the Catherina Wirt who was recorded on 2 January 1762.

Jean-Louis Deladeray arrived in Halifax from possibly Elsaß (Alsace) in 1750. He probably arrived on the Alderney for which no passenger list exists, and therefore, his origins are not known. He was not among the arrivals on the Ann. After his arrival in Halifax, Del’Terre, as the Halifax records list him, was placed in the North Suburbs of Halifax and shared lot B-2 with Peter Chauson.

Louis Deladeray removed to Lunenburg in the spring of 1753 with the other foreign Protestants. Apparently he had been appointed as a constable at Lunenburg because Col. Patrick Sutherland’s account of the Lunenburg Insurrection of December 1753 stated that “A Constable, one LaDerey, then present, refused doing his duty to apprehend one of the Ring-leaders....” The Return of Arms in December 1753 shows him as residing in Rudolf’s Division while the Return of the Divisions stated that Louis Deleterrai occupied lot C-9 at Rudolf’s Division, which was adjacent to Killian Rösty’s lot at C-10. His lot was not improved in any manner according to the return which stated that there was no house or hut. However, his ‘land lot’ was under improvement. (Bell’s Register)

In the 1753 lottery for 30 acre lots, Louis de la Deray drew LaHave lot D-20. In the livestock distribution of 1754, Louis Laderry with Louis Billon drew lot no. 150 for 5 sheep, one sow and one goat. The Deladeray family, like most Lunenburgers, appear on the various victualling lists of the 1750s. The Registries of 30 Acre Farm Lotts and of Town Lots in 1760 state that he had possession of a 30 acre lot at Mahone Bay A-1 (this lot was 90 acres and divided between Guilliaume Rösty, Christian Rösty and Louis Deladeray) and of town lot C-9 in Rudolf’s Division. (Killian Rösty had lot F-6 in Strassburger’s Division.) Although he had died in 1757, the lots were still registered in his name as he had two children as his heirs. (Bell’s Register)

They had the following children:
2 i. James Louis (~1754-)
3 ii. Johanna (~1757-1802)

On 6 Jun 1758 Anna/Susannah second married Johann Georg Würth in Lunenburg, Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia. Born abt 1720 in Kur-Pfalz. Johann Georg died in 1803; he was 83.

They had one child:
4 i. John (1759-)
