“He attended schools in Weld, Me., and graduated from Wilton Academy in Wilton, Maine. Previous to entering the services in March, 1941, he was employed as an engineer in the Wilton Woolen Mills. He received his basic training at Camp Rucker, Ga., later trained at Camp McClellan, Alta. where he was an instructor at a replacement centre, and was transferred overseas with the First Army in 1944, and served for 15 months before his death, in England, France and Germany. During this time he was awarded the Purple Heart, the Good Conduct Medal and the Infantryman Badge. On January 22, of 1945 he was wounded and spent five weeks in hospital at Paris, France.” (Bridgewater Bulletin, 5 Jan. 1949)
