Living in the hosehold was the infant Herman Nickerson who had no stated relationship to the family [when in fact he was the nephew of Emma Acker]. Moore Acker was a farmer. Frederick Acker was a fisherman. Hattie Acker was a public school teacher. Mervin Acker was a carpenter in a ship yard. John Acker was a steward on a vessel. The family were Baptists.

They appear in the 1891 federal census (Lunenburg 38-B3, p. 15, no. 23 [family 78]). He was a fisherman. They were both literate and Lutheran.
William removed to Fall River, Mass. in 1895. Mary and the family followed him in 1897. William and Mary appear in the Fall River Directory for the years 1901-28. Mary appears alone for the years 1929-31.
William and Mary appear in the 1910 United States census (Mass.: Fall River, ED 125, ward 2, p. 17A [house ?, family ?]). They resided at 407 Mount Hope Ave, Fall River, Mass. The census indicates that William immigrated to Massachusetts in 1895 and was naturalized by 1910 while Mary and children immigrated in 1897 and were still British subjects. William was a contractor in the house painting business. He rented an apartment in the house in which his family lived. They had a boarder. The census stated that six of Mary’s seven children were living in 1910.
At the time of their deaths in 1928 and 1931 respectively, William and Mary resided at 20 Atlantic Boulevard, Fall River.

In 1891 James Hyson married Elizabeth Meagher at Curling, Newfoundland. They married at Sacred Heart Romasn Catholic Church. Jacobum Hyson was the son of William Hyson and Elizaberh Turner and was from Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia. Elizabeth Meagher was from Benoit’s Cove, Newfoundland and was the daughter of James Meagher and Elizabeth White.
On 8 April 1901 an Elizabeth Meagher who was born at Port Saunders, Newfoundland died at age 28 at Wexford Road, Curling, Newfoundland. She was buried in the Roman Catholic cemetery there. In 1900 James Hyson was living in Boston, Massachusetts. If this Elizabeth Meagher is the same who married James Hyson in 1891, it is possible given that he was Protestant that their marriage was annulled.
At the time of his second marriage, James Hyson was a ship rigger in 1904. He resided in Chelsea, Mass. Nettie Smith Silver was a domestic and resided in Boston, Mass.
The 1900 United States federal census states that James Heyson resided at 5 Maple Place, Boston, Massachusetts. He was a lodger in the household of widow Nettie E. Silver. James Heyson was a rigger. James emigrated from Canada in 1896 and was naturalized in 1899. The census records that James Heyson was single. (T623-678: Massachusetts: Boston, ED 1249, p. 16A)
James and Nellie Hyson appear in the 1910 United States census (Mass: Boston [Roxbury], ED 1519, ward 17, precinct 7, p. 10B [house 105, family 231]). They resided at 38 ------, Roxbury, Mass. He was a ship rigger at a local shipyard. James emigrated from Nova Scotia in 1885 and does not appear to have been naturalized by 1910. Nellie emigrated from Canada in 1884 and does not appear to have been naturalized. She had three children from a previous marriage, one of which resided with them. A boarder also resided with them.
James Hyson appears in the Boston Directory for the years 1903-04, 1906-15, 1919-21. He lived at Roxbury in 1903, 1906-12, 1915, at East Lenox St. (South End) in 1904, at Hyde Park in 1914, and at Dorchester in 1915, 1919-21. He and Elta appear in the Cambridge Directory for the year 1923 and in Lothrop’s Belmont Directory for the years 1925, 1929, and 1932 (NEHGS has only those years). In 1946, they resided at 35 Williams St., Cambridge, Mass.

He was a caulker who earned about C$300.00 in 1900. They resided in a four-room house, which was located on the south side of Main Street, Brooklyn. The census did not indicate whether the house was owned or leased.
