Aubrey William Le Pla, service no. 5835518 was a private in the 2nd Battalion, Cambridgeshire which was serving in Malaya and Singapore at the outbreak of the Second World War. Aubrey Le Pla died in combat on or about 28 January 1942 several days before the Japanese Army invaded Singapore from British Malaya. He was the son of Fredric G. and Ellen Le Pla. His death is commemorated on the Singapore Memorial at the Kranji War Cemetery, Kranji, Singapore. There is no known burial site for Aubrey Le Pla and the date of death may not necessarily be the date he died, but the date that he went missing. (CWGC)
