In 1841 eleven-year-old John Walker resided in the household consisting of his three younger siblings and him. He was apparently the head of household. John Walker and his siblings resided in Ludlow, Shropshire. (HO 107/942/1: Shropshire, St. Lawrence: ED. 1, p. 34 )

John Walker and his brother William were lodgers in the household of the widow Mary Coxon. They resided at Cover Street, Ludlow, Shropshire according 1851 British census. They were both born in Ludlow. John Walker was a currier's apprentice. (HO 107, piece 1982, folio 322, p.15)

The 1861 British census states that John and Sarah Walker with their two children resided at the village of Scotby, Wetheral, Cumberland. He was a currier by trade. John Walker was born at Ludlow, Shropshire. Sarah Walker was born at Ridley, Northumberland. The children were born at Scotsby. (RG 9, piece 3913, folio 28, p. 5)

In 1871 according to the British census, the Walker family resided at the Grocer's Shop, Scotby village, Wetheral, Cumberland. John Walker was a currier. His wife Sarah Walker was a shopkeeper (grocer). He was born in Ludlow, Shropshire while she was born at Ridley, Yorkshire. The children were all born at Scotby. (RG 10, piece 5215, folio 35, p. 12)

The Walker family resided at Scotby village, Wetheral, Cumberland according to the 1881 British census. John Walker was a currier while his son Thomas H. Walker was an currier's apprentice. He was born at Ludlow, Shropshire. Sarah Walker was born at Chester le Street, Durham. The youngest five children lived with their parents and were born at Scotby. (RG 11, piece 5153, folio 33, p. 15)

John and Sarah Walker resided at Scotby village, Wetheral Cumberland according to the 1891 British census. He was a currier. John Walker was born at Ludlow, Shropshire. Sarah Walker was born at Bedlington, Northumberland. Their son James Walker lived with them and apparently was blinded in childhood. The Walkers had two lodgers: William Stewart and Thomas Reay, curriers from Scotland. (RG 12, piece 4284, folio 80, p. 12)

In 1901 Sarah Walker was a widowed head of household according to the British census. She and several family members resided at Scotby village, Wetheral, Cumberland. She was born at Ridley, Northumberland. Aside from a widowed son and his family, a daughter and another son in the household, John Routledge, a currier from Carlisle was visiting the family when the census was taken. In 1856 John married Sarah Halfey, daughter of Thomas Halfey & Elizabeth [Halfey]. Born abt 1835 in Ridley, Haltwistle, Northumberland, England. Sarah died in Scotby, Wetheral, Cumberland, England, in 1902; she was 67. Occupation: Shop keeper (Grocer).

4. Henry Walker (William2, Elizabeth1). Born abt Nov 1832 in Ludlow, Shropshire, England. Henry was baptized in Ludlow, Shropshire, England, on 5 Nov 1832. Henry died in Ludlow, Shropshire, England, bef 1838; he was 5.

Henry probably died at Ludlow before civil registration of deaths began in 1837. He does not appear in the 1841 census with is siblings.

5. Susan Walker (William2, Elizabeth1). Born abt Nov 1832 in Ludlow, Shropshire, England. Susan was baptized in Ludlow, Shropshire, England, on 5 Nov 1832.

Susan Walker resided at Pools Farm, Downton, Herefordshire according to the 1851 British census. She was a house servant for John Pugh and his family. She was born at nearby Ludlow, Shropshire. (HO 107, piece 1982, folio 45, p. 25)

The 1861 British census states that Susan Walker resided at the Mitre Inn, Stanton Lacy, Shropshire. She was a servant in the household and inn of Robert Allum. Susan Walker was born in nearby Ludlow. (RG 9, piece 1835, folio 52, p. 1)

6. Elizabeth Walker (William2, Elizabeth1). Born abt May 1835 in Ludlow, Shropshire, England. Elizabeth was baptized in Ludlow, Shropshire, England, on 25 May 1835.

Elizabeth Walker resided at Linney Street, Ludlow, Shropshire according to the 1851 British census. She was a servant in the household of Henry and Susan Copner. She was born at Ludlow. (HO 107, piece 1982, folio 200, p. 33)

7. William Walker (William2, Elizabeth1). Born on 17 Apr 1838 in Ludlow, Shropshire, England. William died in St. George Hanover Square, London, England, in 1894; he was 55. Occupation: Saddler, Harness Maker.

At the time of their marriage, William Walker was living at Little Drummond St., St. Pancras, and Margaret House was living at Fitzroy Square, St. Pancras. They married at St. Pancras Church. He was a harness maker. In 1861 Agnes House Moss, the elder sister of Margaret House resided at Little Drummond Street. In 1867, the birth record of his son William states that William Walker was a journetman saddler. The Walkers also resided at 41 Winchester Street, Pimlico, Westminster.

William and Margaret Walker and their children resided at 17 Catherine Street, Marylebone, Middlesex according to the 1871 British census. William Walker was as harness maker. He was born in Ludlow, Shropshire. Margaret Walker was born in Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire. Their son William Walker was born at St. George's Hanover Square, Westminster while Margaret and John were born at St. Margaret's, Westminster. A lodger Alexander Cummings, a widower from Plymouth, Devon resided in the Walker household. (RG 10, piece 128, folio 95, p. 47)

The 1881 British census states that the Walker family resided at 6 Park Terrace, Mackenzie Road, Beckenham, Kent. William Walker was a harness maker. Margaret Walker was a laundress. Their son William Walker was a messenger. William Walker was born at Ludlow, Salop while his wife Margeret was born at Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire. Their son William Walker was born at Pimlico, Middlesex while the younger children were born at Beckenham. (RG 11, piece, piece 850, folio 58, p. 35)

William Walker resided with three of his children at 15 Marlborough Square, Chelsea, London according to the 1891 British census. He was a harness maker. His daughter Margaret Elizabeth Walker was a kitchen maid while son Henry Newman Walker was bookbinder's apprentice. William Walker was born at Ludlow, Salop. Margaret E. Walker was born at Westminster, London while Henry and Ada Walker were born at Beckenham, Kent. Two lodgers, Edwin Thomas and Henry George Pike of Chelsea resided in the household. Margaret Walker did not reside with her husband William Walker and the children according to the 1891 British census. She resided at 18 Cromwell Place, Kensington, London as a servant in the household of Charlotte Lang. Margaret Walker was born at Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire. (RG 12, piece 32, folio 11, p. 16)

Margaret Walker resided at Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire according to the 1901 British census. She was a widow who resided in the household of her nephew William Spearing and his wife Winifred at 15 Waterside Street, Henley. The census states that she was an aunt in relationship to the head of household. (RG 13, piece 1369, folio 45, p. 8)

On 19 Jul 1863 William married Margaret House, daughter of Charles House & Elizabeth Newman, in St. Pancras, Middlesex, England.1,2 Born on 25 Jan 1840 in Rotherfield Greys, Oxfordshire, England. Margaret died aft 1901; she was 60.
