Bef 1822 Philip first married Catherine Sophia [Hiltz]. Catherine Sophia died in Sackville, Halifax Co., Nova Scotia on 30 Nov 1839.

Born in 1818 in Chester Twp., Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia. Catherine died in Lower Stewiacke, Colchester Co., Nova Scotia, on 9 May 1865; she was 47.8
